Marist 7s: New champs to be crowned after Navy defeated Army 7-0

A new champion will be crowned at the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s after defending champion DXC Army Green was bundled out in the 2nd round of elimination following their 7-0 loss to Navy this afternoon.

It was a tightly contested match where both teams gave their all but Navy had the last laugh.

A converted try at the stroke of halftime gave Navy a 7-0 lead and great defence in the second half was enough to give them the win.

Navy will take on Tabadamu in the last cup quarter final this afternoon.

In other results from the 2nd round of eliminations today, Dominion Brothers defeated Ubuntu Brothers 12-7, BLK Lavidi Brothers defeated Tako Lavo 14-0, Devo Babas edged Nakavu 10-7, Vacalea Young Boys defeated TEMC Warriors 22-5, and Tabadamu thumped Uluinakau Babas 27-0.

The cup quarter finals will kick off at 1.30pm today.
