Man who claimed to be injected refuses to give further blood sample

A teacher who claimed that he was attacked and injected by a group of men on Wednesday night in Valelevu has refused to give another blood sample.

According to Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu, they have also found inconsistency in his statement and doctors cannot ascertain whether the injury on his wrist is from a needle.

He said the matter is now been looked at by their Criminal Investigation Department as they do not want to take this lightly.

He said previously they received a series of reports however there was unreliability and non-identification of the suspects.

Shavnish Kumar told Fijivillage that he was walking along the road when he claims that suddenly five men grabbed him, covered his face with a piece of cloth and injected a sharp object like a needle on his right wrist.

Somehow he managed to free himself, ran across the road, boarded a taxi and went to Valelevu Police Station.

He said he became unconscious and police took him to hospital.

However, Tudravu has assured members of the public that there is no need to raise an alarm as they are monitoring and enquiring with people in relation to these reports.
