The mammogram and microtome machines at CWM Hospital are expected to resume normal services as early as next week.
A Mammogram machine is designed to look at breast tissue and can detect cancer early.
To know the abnormalities from a tissue sample through a biopsy, doctors need a Microtome machine to slice the tissues.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has confirmed that through the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services, the Ministry has obtained the parts needed to repair the Mammogram and Microtome machines at CWM.
The Health Ministry says that repair works should be completed by next week.
CWM General & Paediatric Surgeon Dr. Josese Turagava in his presentation at the launch of the CWM Hospital Oncology Unit Pinktober Campaign highlighted that the Mammogram machine along with the Microtome machine have been inoperable for the past 4 months.
