Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is out to win the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 1 next week and the athletes are promising to do something extraordinary.

The school won the 100 metres senior boys and girls events at the Coca-Cola Games last year and finished in fifth place on the overall boys medal tally.

Kesaia Boletakanakadavu won the 100 metres in the senior girls and bronze in the 200 metres.

She also won gold in the blue event at the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 1.

School Principal Sanjay Raman says Boletakanakadavu is preparing really well for the events and she may win those medals again this year.

He says the students are doing well under the guidance of the school’s PEMAC department and their coaches.

Raman says there is nothing such as poaching athletes as students have enrolled during the start of the year and are all MGM High School students now.

When asked if any of the students were approached to be enrolled, Raman says the school is not doing anything special to get these students to enroll.

He adds they aim to win the Suva Zone 1 next week and the Coca-Cola Games on the 27th to the 29th of this month.
