People from all walks of life, locally and internationally, have shown their support towards raising funds for 13-year-old Alexander Ligairi, who is currently admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at CWM Hospital in Suva.

Speaking to fijivillage News, his father and LegendFM radio personality, Jerry Ligairi, says his family is overwhelmed and immensely grateful to the support shown by the Fijian people, locally and internationally, in their plea to collect funds for his son’s medical treatment in New Zealand.

He says his post pleading to the people was shared by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Flying Fijians reps Waisea Nayacalevu and Jiuta Lutumailagi, and the players have also sent in their donations.

Ligairi says they have collected about $123,000 from donations, and he is thankful to Communications Fiji Limited for clearing $150,000 in insurance for his son’s medical treatment.

He is also thankful to Paula Simpson and Jokapeci Tamanitoakula for organising a Zumba fundraising this morning at the YMCA Gym, where he also participated in the session.

He says they will be holding a concert tonight at the Hilltop Beer Garden to fundraise for his son’s medical treatment.

Speaking about the concert tonight, Ligairi says he did not know that the musicians were putting together the concert until he saw it on social media.

He acknowledges the time given by these talented musicians and hopes more people will turn up to support the fundraising and support local musicians.

The artists and groups performing at the fundraiser include Dee, Chapter 5, Tana Music, Verse 3, Olsen, Manava, Miles and Lita, and Ratu.

Ligairi says his son’s condition has started to get better and the doctor looking after him, Dr Allen Biribo, has assessed that Alexander can travel in a commercial flight rather than on an air ambulance which is a financial saver for them.

If you wish to assist, you can donate via M-PAiSA to Ratu Jeremiah Ligairi on 8032661, or to the ANZ Bank Account: Ratu Jeremiah Ligairi – 12964155.

You can also send support through the M-PAiSA account of Ligairi’s younger brother and Alex’s namesake at 9380417.
