Lifeline Fiji will continue to enhance its services in dealing with suicides and other issues following the partnership announcement with Goodman Fielder today.
While speaking during the event, Lifeline team leader Jeremaia Merekula says over the years they have struggled with limited resources and meeting the necessary needs of the people.
Merekula says in one month, they can receive up to 160 calls, but at times, they receive more than 500 calls.
He also highlighted that 40 percent of their calls are related to suicide.
Lifeline’s Chairperson, Selina Kuruleca also acknowledged Goodman Fielder for stepping in to meet operational costs and providing financial assistance.
Manager Tim Carter says by partnering with Lifeline Fiji, Goodman Fielder is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring the mental and emotional well-being of their workforce and the community at large.
Carter says they will support Lifeline Fiji in continuing to operate effectively, offering confidential mental health services to individuals in crisis across the country.
He adds their involvement will ease operational costs for Lifeline Fiji, enabling the charity to focus its resources on providing free, professional mental health support services.
