Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Ben Gollings has revealed that the objectives of the team leaving for Vancouver two weeks earlier before the Vancouver 7s tournament was to help the players connect as a group and minimise distractions from outside.

Gollings says it also allowed them to build up on the dynamic and as well as meeting the requirements of getting used to the weather in Vancouver.

He says a few players in the team had not experienced that kind of weather before and the initiative of them leaving early gave these new players the chance to get used to the weather.

The Vancouver 7s will be held from this Friday to Sunday.

The Fiji Men’s 7s team will take on Spain at 11.20am Friday in their first match, they will then play Canada at 4.44pm Friday before taking on Argentina at 10.33am Saturday in their last pool match. The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 2.22pm Saturday, the cup semi finals will kick off at 8.43am Sunday and the cup final will be at 1.23pm Sunday. The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will take on the USA at 7.30am Friday in their first match, they will then play Australia at 12.46pm Friday before playing Japan at 6.15am Saturday in their final pool match. The women’s quarter finals will kick off at 11.55am Saturday, the semi finals will kick off at 7.59am Sunday and the final will be at 12.43pm Sunday.
