Services at the Lautoka hospitals maternity ward and X-Ray department is expected to be affected as 13 senior staff and three consultant doctors will retire tomorrow.
Medical Superintendant of the Lautoka Hospital Dr. Tui Taoi, who will also retire tomorrow said they have informed the Ministry of the urgent need to retain mid-wives and one Orthopedic consultant.
Dr. Taoi also revealed that a retired consultant, hired on a contract basis earlier will be allowed to stay on until June.
However, Dr. Taoi said the handing over of duties from the Senior retiring staff nurses to Junior staff has been implemented.
A total of 300 Health Ministry staff including 15 doctors and 97 nurses will retire tomorrow.
