Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fiji will join millions worldwide in honouring President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City on September 27, 2025, at the age of 101.

The Church says President Nelson, who has led the faith since 2018, is remembered for his powerful teachings about Jesus Christ and the gathering of Israel.

The Church further says that at the time of his passing, he was the oldest leader of a worldwide faith.

The Church adds that a special tribute broadcast will be held this Thursday at 4am.

They highlight that the event will feature remarks from senior Church leaders and music from The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and will be available live and on demand at ChurchofJesusChrist.org, YouTube, BYUtv, and KSL.

The Church says despite his passing, the October General Conference will continue as scheduled, and members are invited to tune in to five sessions on Sunday and Monday to receive inspired messages from apostles and other Church leaders.

The Church also says a public funeral service for Nelson will be broadcast next Wednesday at 6am and members worldwide are encouraged to participate.
