LTA tightens oversight of provisional licenses amid concerns over driver behaviour- Ro Filipe

The Land Transport Authority is reviewing various aspects of its operations, including the licensing and monitoring of provisional licenses.

This follows growing concern over declining driving behaviour in Fiji, which is at an all-time low.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Minister for Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau says they are working closely with the police to strengthen the monitoring of highways and driver conduct.

Ro Filipe adds he has requested more frequent roadside checks by police.

He also highlighted while speeding remains a major cause of accidents, it is also important to address the root causes of reckless driving, especially as many drivers continue to ignore road rules.

The Minister also emphasized ultimately it is the drivers’ responsibility to ensure the safety of all passengers travelling in any public service vehicle.
