Kritesh Kumar who was allegedly found in possession of 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine will know on the 19th of next month whether he will be released on bail.
Kumar through his lawyer has informed the court that he is a widower and needs to take care of his two children who are currently with his relatives.
The court was told that Kumar’s relatives do not want to look after the 9 and 5-year-old children anymore and the court has to consider the welfare of the children.
The State lawyer while objecting to bail has stated that Kumar is charged with a serious offence which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment if convicted.
High Court Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe also highlighted in court today that Kumar had hid the fact that he had a previous conviction just three months ago which was similar in nature.
Kumar is charged for being found in possession of illicit drugs.
Kumar’s plea has also been deferred to the 19th of next month.
