Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica met with Vodafone this morning to address some growing concerns about the e-Transport card renewal process.
Following concerns that people are being turned away after waiting in long lines due to missing requirements, Kamikamica confirms to fijivillage News that Vodafone will display requirements more visibly and also have priority lines for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Kamikamica says to improve the experience Vodafone will increase resourcing at every agency to cater for the queues and look at booking larger venues so that people can sit down, for example Town Halls.
He further says that the Ministry with the Consumer Council of Fiji, is closely monitoring the situation to ensure a smooth rollout.
He is also encouraging people to use the 151 hotline to contact Vodafone if they have any issues.
Meanwhile, a woman shared her frustrating experience on facebook, stating that she waited in line from 7.30am and was only served at 11.10am.
She says people never asked for this e-transport card renewal system.
The woman adds that this is affecting the well-being of the senior citizens and claims that she witnessed three people collapsing because of the heat, causing knee pain and headaches.
