Kamikamica acquitted of all charges

Kamikamica acquitted of all charges
Former Roko Tui Rewa, Savenaca Kamikamica has been acquitted of all three charges that he was facing after High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando’s judgement this afternoon.

It was all smiles for Kamikamica’s family and friends as Justice Fernando read out his final ruling finding Kamikamica not guilty.

Earlier this morning the three assessors came with a unanimous decision of not guilty.

Justice Fernando said he concurs with the assessor’s verdict.

Kamikamica’s lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry asked the court for the release of his client’s travel documents.

Kamikamica was facing two counts of embezzlement and one of abuse of office.

In the abuse of office count, it was alleged that Kamikamica abused the authority of his office, did an arbitrary act, that is without lawful authority, directed that $11,000 be moved from the Development Assistance Scheme fund of the Rewa Provincial Council into an account for the money to be used for purposes other than that it had been intended for.
