Jimmy Kimmel 'appeared to mislead the public', says regulator after host's suspension

Jimmy Kimmel was "appearing to directly mislead the American public" with his comments about Charlie Kirk's alleged killer, the head of the US broadcast regulator says

Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, says the talk show host's comments were "not a joke"

Kimmel's show was suspended after he said the "Maga gang" was "desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points".

Those comments came after authorities in Utah said the alleged shooter was "indoctrinated with leftist ideology"

Speaking during a state visit to the UK, President Donald Trump says Kimmel should have been fired "a long time ago".
