Richelle Krishnan is the Dux of Jai Narayan College for 2025 after scoring 482 marks.

Krishnan who is also the school's Head Girl, says she is a year younger than most of her classmates, and this has sometimes led to her being picked on.

She says despite the challenges at home and school, she relied on hard work and her faith in God to stay focused.

The Dux says balancing her responsibilities as Head Girl and her academic work was difficult at times.

She says there were days when she had meetings and had to take her books with her so she could continue studying.

Krishnan says people often had high expectations of her, and there were moments when she felt she could not meet them.

However, she adds that putting in the effort and trusting in God made everything possible.

Her mother, Karen Kishnan, says raising children as a single parent is not easy, and she is overwhelmed by her daughter’s achievement.

Karen, who serves full-time in ministry, says sacrifice is always required when supporting children, and she continues to trust Jesus Christ to guide her family.

Karen says her daughter made the decision in Year 9 that she wanted to become Dux, and from then on lived a disciplined and very restricted life to reach her goal.

Miss Hibiscus 2025, Rhyelle Aisea, also attended the graduation.

She encouraged younger students of Jai Narayan College to stay grounded and to believe in themselves.
