Newly appointed SODELPA Leader, Aseri Radrodro

A huge challenge is in front of the newly appointed SODELPA Leader, Aseri Radrodro since some of its members did not support his appointment to the leadership role.

With his role as the new SODELPA leader endorsed during the Party’s Annual General Meeting at the Suva Civic Centre last Saturday, several supporters left the meeting with frowns on their faces.

A few of its prominent members, such as Seremaia Tuiteci and former General Secretary Lenaitasi Duru, did not attend the meeting as they had said that due process was not followed regarding the appointment of the new leader.

Some members, who were part of the AGM told the media that they did not like how the appointment was done, and SODELPA is losing out.

When questioned by the media on what he will do to gain the support from the divisions that did not support his appointment, Radrodro says it will be hard work for them to try and get them to their side as they prepare for the 2026 elections.

He says he is happy to lead the Party as a backbencher in Parliament, and SODELPA will always be for the people.

He adds that as a leader, he will always ensure that services to the people are delivered and any issues brought by the people will be raised to the relevant government agencies.
