Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji Archbishop Peter Loy Chong

The Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says the Fijian society today experiences a number of brokenness and shatteredness that is brought about by politics and extractive industries that are out for short term and quick gains. Archbishop Loy Chong highlighted this in his Easter Message and says with elections coming up, it is good for us to reflect on the gift of God because it is peace through God that we can mend the brokenness of our lives.

He adds that many church denominations that we have today is another cause of many divisions in villages and even families.

Archbishop Loy Chong says while technology and social media connects us with one another, it also creates division and distances between people.

He says the disciples also experienced brokenness and were traumatized after the suffering and death of Jesus.

Archbishop Loy Chong says peace is central to the Holy Week.
