The issuance of new Fiji passports has come to a halt after the Immigration Department printers broke down a few days ago.
Immigration Director, Commander Viliame Naupoto said the two printers are now beyond repair as both have gone through about 250,000 passports and it is time to change them.
Commander Naupoto is confident that they would be able to clear the backlog of passport applications before the festive season.
At this stage, Commander Naupoto is confident that the new immigration printers will arrive in the country later this week.
