Irregular water supply till Jan 2011

The Water Authority of Fiji said people living in the high areas such as Tamavua, Cunningham, Newtown, Valelevu, Tuirara, Samabula, Toorak, Nadera, Delainavesi, Lami and Veisari, will be experiencing low pressure and intermittent water supply until January next year.

Water Authority of Fiji said they are carrying out rehabilitation and upgrading works at the Waila and the Tamavua treatment plants and the works are expected to completed by January next year.

According to the Water Authority, the rehabilitation works require the shutting down of some plants and this reduces production capacity thus affecting the volume of supply to the reservoirs and eventually to homes.

When this is done those living in high places will experience weak pressure and intermittent supply.

Meanwhile, the Water Authority of Fiji has called on members of the public affected by recent water cuts to direct all their complaints to them, instead of going to the media.

All complaints received at the Water Authority of Fiji Call Centre are recorded before their technicians attend to the complaints at the earliest opportunity with the resources available.

People have also been advised to always store water as water cuts cannot be predicted.
