Interim PM to Announce Chaudhry’s Fate

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama will announce his Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry's fate this morning after the tax inquiry was completed yesterday.

The three member Independent team appointed to carry out an inquiry to scrutinize allegations against Chaudhry has handed in its report to the Interim Prime Minister.

In a statement the inquiry team members, Bruce Cowley, Taufa Vakatake and Russell Postle have stressed that the independence of the inquiry has been of paramount importance to them and they wish to assure the community that they have at all times brought an independent mind to bear on all issues which have come before them for consideration.

They also stress that no attempt has been made by any parties to influence their deliberations.

The Interim PM will now decide on the necessary action and is expected to make a public statement within the next few hours.
