As the Public Sector Unions try to pressure the Interim Government to restore the 5 percent pay cut for civil servants, Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has stressed that the government cannot pay the COLA and reinstates the pay cut.
Commodore Bainimarama said it’s about time that the unions change their style rather than just making demands.
Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry stresses that the interim government just cannot afford to restore the 5 percent pay cut.
Chaudhry said unions leaders should understand what is happening instead of threatening to walk out of their jobs on July 19th.
He hopes that good sense will prevail and civil servants will not go on strike.
