Interim Govt to Set Up Contingency Plans for Planned National Strike
A special cabinet meeting will be held this morning to set up contingency plans for the national strike planned by the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions.

Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune has indicated that they are now looking at options to sub-contract the road works and water supply services to the private sector if the members of the Viti National Union of Taukei Workers and Public Employees Union go on strike.

Bune has also revealed that they are also talking to retired nurses and nurses who are not members of the Fiji Nurses Association to ensure that hospital services are not affected.

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has also confirmed to Village News that the military and police are also ready to assist if civil servants walk out of their jobs in the next few weeks.
