Indian animal healthcare company Ayurvet Limited has agreed to assist Fiji and provide training, technology advice and assistance with regards to animal health care.

This has come after a Fijian delegation visited India and highlighted the need for assistance in animal health care.

The agreement between Ayurvet Ltd and the Fijian government will be formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding which will be facilitated by the Fiji High Commission Office in New Delhi, India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian High Commission in Fiji and the Ministry of Agriculture in both countries.

The Minister for Agriculture, Inia Seruiratu is leading the Fijian delegation in India and is meeting with senior key officials from both the Indian government and the private sector.

Seruiratu has also raised the need for Fiji to access Ayurvet’s services and technology and to learn from their model and best practices.

He pointed out that Fiji’s agriculture sector would benefit from close cooperation with the company in capacity building, training on animal feed plant, animal husbandry and animal health care.

Ayurvet Limited portfolio includes the production of food, feed, fodder, fertiliser and fuel through hydroponics.

The company uses an integrated model of sustainability and livelihood for production.
