The International Intelligence Agency or INTERPOL is now involved in the investigations with Fiji Police in relation to the missing $1 million in new $20 bills.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that along with Interpol, their liaisons and other agencies are also assisting in the investigations.
Sokomuri also confirmed that so far, a little over $20,000 of the missing money has been recovered from various locations around Fiji.
It was earlier confirmed that the $1 million, which was for the Reserve Bank of Fiji, was not stolen from Fiji but went missing overseas before the container arrived in Fiji earlier this month.
The missing $20 notes starts with the serial number EB and Sokomuri said if anyone comes across these notes they can take it to any commercial bank and they would be reimbursed with another note. He said this is part of the effort to recover the stolen money.
