Former Prime Minister and the leader for the SDL Party Laisenia Qarase said the interim government has failed to deliver good governance and its time the Interim government is pressured for an early return to democracy.
Speaking at the launch of the fund and movement for the restoration of democracy in Fiji, Qarase stressed the Interim Government is continuing to make false promises to the International community as well as to the people of Fiji.
And as we mark two years since the December 2006 coup, National Federation Party General Secretary Pramod Rae has questioned the reason behind the 2006 coup saying no satisfactory reasons have been given to prove that the Qarase led Government was not worthy to remain in power.
Former Opposition Leader, Mick Beddoes who was also present at the launch highlighted that it’s the right time to start such an initiative.
The newly launched fund and movement for the restoration of democracy in Fiji currently has the support of Fiji National Council of Women, Pacific Concerns Resource Centre, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, Fiji Islands Coucil of Trade Unions, Fijian Teachers Association, United Peoples Party, National Federation Party and the SDL party.
