A family in Khalsa road escaped with their lives after their corrugated iron and timber house collapsed yesterday afternoon.
The home was situated in a squatter settlement and erected on a slope and fortunately, the home owner and her four children managed to escape unharmed before it collapsed.
One of the occupants of the house told Fijivillage they thought it was an earthquake and fled from the house.
The home owner claimed that they are paying a monthly fee to the landowners in the area after being given permission to build the house at the location adding the home was built for them by a construction company with money donated to them.
The Nasinu Town Council and the Construction Company is expected to comment later today.
