Staff of Hot Bread Kitchen in Valelevu are assured that their pay will not be affected after the fire incident in the Wallson Building last night.

Hot Bread Kitchen's Managing Director, Vanessa Charters says production will be relocated as soon as possible, and they are looking forward to once again providing fresh pies and sausage rolls for their loyal customers this weekend.

Charters says meat pies and sausage rolls will not be available in their shops between Lami and Nausori from today until they relocate their pastry facility.

She says the fire started in the mid-afternoon on the North-East corner of the building, and by early evening had spread to Hot Bread Kitchen's pastry facility on the South-West corner, forcing staff, who had occupied the building since the early 1990s, to move equipment to the roadside and evacuate to safety.

She adds that their valuable staff are all safe and spending time with their loved ones, which is the most important thing.

Charters praises the National Fire Authority and Police for the excellent job they did in protecting life and limb in extremely trying conditions.
