Heavy rain warning remains in force for whole of Fiji

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says the Tropical disturbance was located about 500km North West of Nadi earlier this morning.

It is currently slow moving.

The Tropical Disturbance is gradually deepening and expected to become a Tropical Depression later today.

It is expected to gradually move South East towards the Fiji group by Friday.

The Weather Office says at this stage, the system has a moderate 20 to 50 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over Fiji waters.

The outlook for the whole of Fiji is heavy rain at times and squally thunderstorms over most of the places.

Rain will become frequent and heavy from later today.

The immediate concern is for extensive rain over most parts of the country.

People are advised that localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding.
