Heavy rain warning remains in force for most parts of Fiji

Expect continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms during most of the Easter weekend as the trough of low pressure continues to affect Fiji.

This is expected to result in flash flooding and even river flooding in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Northern Lau Group, Lomaiviti, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A flood alert remains in place for the low lying areas, downstream and adjacent to Waimanu River.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Northern parts of the Country.

It is expected to intensify and affect most parts of the group from later today.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Roads Authority says Savusavu and Burelevu crossings in Rakiraki are currently underwater and this has cut off access for people there.
