Heavy rain warning remains in force for Fiji

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office said a tropical depression was located about 220km southwest of Rotuma at 6am today and it is anticipated to gradually move southwest.

The system has moderate to high probability of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24‑48 hours however it will not have a direct effect on Fiji as it is expected to move towards Vanuatu.

The associated cloud bands are expected to affect Fiji till tomorrow.

Localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding.

Meanwhile, a strong wind warning remains in force for land areas of eastern half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

There have not been any reports of flooding from last night.
