A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
Nadi Weather Office Director Alipate Waqaicelua said the centre of the tropical depression is located about 100 kilometres North of Labasa.
It is expected to take a South Easterly direction today.
Waqaicelua is appealing to the people in Vanua Levu to take necessary precautions as continuous heavy rain and flooding is expected in the low lying areas.
For the Central and Eastern divisions, the heavy rain warning is cancelled for now.
Waqaicelua said it would be good news for the residents of the Central and Eastern divisions if the depression continues to move further away from Viti Levu.
The Weather Office will continue to monitor this and update people if there are any changes.
Since 9am yesterday, Laucala Bay received 206.6mm of rainfall, Nausori received 99.0mm, Vunisea received 56.6mm, Navua received 164.1mm and Lomaivuna received 68.6mm of rainfall.
