Heavy rain warning issued for Fiji group

A heavy rain warning has been issued for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Lomaiviti Group and for the rest of Fiji.

This is caused by a trough of low pressure that remains slow moving over the group. It may affect the group until Friday.

People living in these areas can expect periods of rain with thunderstorms that may get heavy at times.

A flood alert has also been issued for all low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to major rivers in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

A flood alert has also been issued for low lying areas and small streams downstream of and adjacent to Ba Town as well as Navala Village.

A flood alert is also in place for low lying areas and small streams adjacent to and downstream of Labasa Town.
