A heavy rain warning is now in force for Eastern half of Viti Levu including Serua and Namosi, Navua to Suva and Nausori, Tailevu to Naitasiri and Ra, the Northern Division, the Yasawa Group, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies over the group and associated cloud and rain are expected to affect parts of the group until later tomorrow.

Potential impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone and low-lying informal settlements and communities, as well as businesses and Irish Crossings, which may lead to traffic disruptions.

They further warn of surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage, wet roads and reduced visibility, particularly during heavy rain, which may also increase the risk of road accidents.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution.
