The Health Ministry’s blood bank is targeting to collect 14,000 litres of blood by the end of the year.

National manager for the Health Ministry's blood bank, Josefa Bolaqace says they are looking at around 14,000 people to voluntarily donate blood for them to reach their target.

Bolaqace says they are really focusing on voluntary donors.

He says the ultimate target is that 2% of the total population is a blood donor.

Bolaqace is again calling on members of the public to come forward and donate blood as it will save a life.

He says people who give blood are only giving 450ml of blood which will be restored in less than a day.
