The Ousted Prime Minister has stressed that the next general elections should be held under the current constitution and the Electoral Act.
While the National Council for Building a Better Fiji starts its work, Laisenia Qarase has cautioned the council and the interim government that they cannot make any changes to the current electoral system without parliamentary approval.
Qarase also says the legal foundation of the proposed People's Charter is doubtful and the Charter cannot bind future elected governments to make policy changes.
Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama will decide later on whether he will comment on Qarase's statements.
