An emotional Miriama Vosa was with the Walk On Walk Strong Kids Fiji team that celebrated International Childhood Cancer Day with a 3km Fun Walk and Zumba at Albert Park this morning.

Vosa was there to show her support for the organisation that had stood by her and her son during their year long battle with muscle cancer.

She made the 3km walk cradling her son’s framed picture.

The grieving mother says her 13-year-old son, Isoa lost the battle with cancer on January 30th this year.

She says they found out about Isoa’s condition when he had surgery to remove a tumour from his thigh, which was tested confirming that he had cancer.

Vosa says she is very thankful that she has a very strong support system from her family, friends and even her customers.

She says Isoa always looked forward to calls from the WOWS team as they made his last year a very memorable one with all the fun days and movie dates.

Vosa is advising parents to get their children checked at the CWM Hospital because if their cancer gets detected early then something can be done.

She reminisces that if Isoa had been diagnosed earlier he might not have succumbed and still be around.

More than 100 people were at hand for this morning’s activities from corporate sponsors, friends and family as well as students from Marist Brothers High School.
