Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has stressed that if the recruitment of expatriates is needed to bring reforms then government will proceed to do so.
According to the Information Ministry, Commodore Bainimarama who was speaking from China said as preparations are progressing well in anticipation of the 2011 National Budget announcement on Friday, government’s focus will be on improving efficiency in various regulatory bodies including FIRCA.
He went on to say that turnaround times and clear and transparent rules are imperative to improve business, investor and public confidence, adding that bureaucracy will be removed to enhance reforms.
The Prime Minister’s criticism of ineffective government services comes on the heels of talks held both in China and Fiji that highlighted the need to improve the service delivery of government bodies.
Commodore Bainimarama said if we are to attract investors into Fiji, we must have the right environment and attitude to facilitate these investors.
He stressed that we must continue to work together and with each other to strengthen the foundations of economic growth and prosperity for Fiji.
The Prime Minister, who is due back from China within the next few days, has been spearheading the drive to improve government services to members of the public.
