Govt vehicle smash into electric post
A number of people, who were at Waimanu Road just near the Ocean View Hotel in Suva, are counting their lucky stars today.

The scene in this area just minutes before 1pm was a government four wheel drive vehicle smashing into an electric post.

This resulted in live power lines sparking and falling on the road, one even falling on a taxi.

This was due to the electric pole falling across the road.

Although the road is a very busy area as it is one of the entry points to the capital city, it is fortunate that no one was injured.

Trapped in his taxi with live wires around him, a 26 year old driver said he saw his life flash before his eyes as he thought he was going to die.

Labasa native, Avinesh Dutt arrived at the junction just moments after the four-wheel drive vehicle smashed into the pole, and he witnessed the electric post collapse and live wires were thrown over his car.

Dutt said he thought he was going to lose his life as he remained motionless in his taxi.
