The government is not using the money from the National Budget like it is their father’s money.
That was stressed by the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum following a motion in parliament by SODELPA parliamentarian Viliame Gavoka for the allocation of $200,000 for a Regional ICT meeting next year to be reduced by $50,000.
Gavoka said the private sector can sponsor the event and pay for the expenses.
He also says that they will continue to raise issues about government spending on overseas travel and hosting events.
Gavoka then used a hindi saying by Wadan Narsey which means it is not your father’s money.
Sayed-Khaiyum then said that there are proper systems in place on government spending.
He highlighted how the previous government was handling issues in relation to the Natadola development.
Gavoka’s motion was defeated.
