SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka

SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka has questioned the Government why it has allocated $6.2 million grant for Tourism Fiji and $20 million to Tourism Fiji Marketing Grant as tourism has been largely inactive for more than a year.

Minister for Tourism, Faiyaz Koya told Gavoka it is not a budget-related question and tourism allocation does not stop.

Gavoka then said they need to know what is the staffing level now as there is very little activities and asked where the marketing money will be spent on.

The SODELPA Leader also questioned whether this money will not be utilised and taken back to the Central Fund.

In his response, Koya says Tourism Fiji has a responsibility and they will do what is necessary with the budget that has been given.

Gavoka was not convinced with Koya’s responses and continued asking him on how the money will be used.
