Great Council of Chiefs Chairman, Ratu Viliame Seruvakula has condemned a viral social media video showing a man and woman dancing erotically during a iTaukei celebration.
He called the act “disgusting” and “embarrassing.”
When questioned about the footage, Ratu Viliame says he had been informed of the video and expressed deep concern about the message such behaviour sends to young people.
He says while individuals have the freedom to make their own choices, communities must ask themselves what example they are setting.
Ratu Viliame questioned whether such conduct is what Fijians want their children to learn and emulate, emphasising the need for values that uphold respect and dignity.
