Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he will give the Cabinet Minister whose Facebook page had a sex video put up on it an opportunity to respond before deciding what action, if any, should be taken.
Rabuka says he is yet to speak with the Minister, who had travelled overseas, and is unsure whether he has returned to the country.
He says he has yet to hear the Minister's account of the matter and believes the Minister must be given an opportunity to defend himself.
The Prime Minister says he has not seen the video or any related images but has received an email about the issue.
When asked whether the seriousness of the matter could lead to the Minister's dismissal, Rabuka says he needs to hear from the Minister first.
When questioned whether he would take the same approach used in the case involving former Minister Lynda Tabuya, Rabuka says all Cabinet Ministers must be treated equally, regardless of gender.
He says he will establish the facts before deciding what action, if any, should be taken.
An explicit video was posted on the Minister's facebook story on Friday and later removed, before being widely circulated on social media.
Rabuka had earlier told fijivillage News that he had no proof the video had been posted on the Minister's facebook page and called on anyone with evidence to lodge a complaint.
The circumstances surrounding the reported post remain unclear, and the Minister is yet to publicly provide an explanation.
People are urged to respect the privacy of those involved and refrain from circulating the video.
