Free open heart surgeries to start in Lautoka this month

Lautoka Hospital has the equipment installed for free open heart surgeries to start this month.

A spokesperson from ASPEN medical says cardiothoracic surgical services are being funded by the Fijian Government, as part of the Public Private Partnership, so there is no cost to Fijians.

The spokesperson says patients have undergone their initial examinations, and a group has been identified as successful candidates for surgical interventions.
