Free heart screening for children as old as sixteen is now available at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Screening Centre in Nasese, Suva every Thursday.
Sai Prema Foundation Fiji was founded three years ago to serve the poor and needy and since then has conducted 71 free heart surgeries for children suffering from congenital heart disease.
240 children have received free heart screening at the newly opened Sai Sanjeevani Children Heart Screening Centre while 360 children have received free heart screenings in the rural villages.
The Foundation has also collected 2,250 pints of blood in partnership with the National Blood Service.
All Medical Officers are advised that they can refer children who suffer from heart disease for free echo screening.
