A founding member of the National Federation Party and former NFP MP, Ujagar Singh has passed away in Auckland.

Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad says Singh’s death marks the end of an era of the period of transition of Fiji from a British colony to an independent nation.

He says Singh was the last surviving member of the Legislative Council and was also part of the London Constitutional Conference with other NFP members and the then Party Leader S M Koya that paved the way for Fiji’s Independence.

Singh served as a NFP Member of Parliament until 1977 when he retired from parliamentary politics.

Prasad says Singh provided guidance and advice to many who have or are still active in the party.
