Former primary school teacher guilty of rape, defilement and abduction

A former primary school teacher has been found guilty of rape, defilement and abduction of a student from the same school.

The incidents happened in 2019 and the girl was 12 years at the time of the incident.

While delivering his judgement, Justice Daniel Goundar said that the child was consistent in giving her evidence.

Justice Goundar also highlighted that the former teacher had taken the girl on separate occasions without her parents knowledge or consent.

The matter has been adjourned to the 17th of this month for sentence hearing.
