A former head teacher of a primary school in Lami has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for indecently assaulting the head girl of the school.
The 52-year-old man fondled the breast of the 12-year-old girl on 19th of July 2016.
Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage said that the evidence revealed the former headteacher touched the hand and breast of the victim when she had gone to the office to pick up a flash drive.
He adds that this is a serious breach of trust since he was the guardian of all children during the time they spend in school.
Magistrate Liyanage said that the victim revealed that she felt like committing suicide.
The former head teacher has been ordered to pay compensation of $1000 to the victim.
