Former Military Officer, Rajiv Padyachi has been sentenced to life imprisonment for attempting to kill his former partner last year.
High Court Judge Justice Chamath Morais says Padyachi will be able to apply for pardon after serving 15 years imprisonment.
Justice Morais says Padyachi had pre planned to kill his former partner.
Padyachi attempted to drown his former partner while swimming in Colo-I-Suva in September last year.
A team of police officers heard the woman’s cry for help and managed to save her and arrested Padyachi.
The woman sustained injuries during the alleged incident.
