The Fiji Water Flying Fijians’ test match against Scotland will be on the 12th of July this year at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

While making the announcement today, Fiji Rugby Union Board Chairman John Sanday says Scotland holds a unique place in Fiji rugby history as they are the only Six Nations team to frequently visit our shores to play the Flying Fijians.

Sanday says this speaks volumes about the mutual respect and the competitive spirit between the two teams.

He says this match is crucial for both teams as they prepare for upcoming international competitions, and for the Flying Fijians, it is an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of their home fans and continue building momentum.

FRU Acting General Manager High-Performance Bill Gadolo says they are always grateful for Scotland and the relationship they have shared with FRU dating back to 1982.

Gadolo says there are always effects of the relationship between the two countries.

While speaking during the official announcement today, Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend says they are looking forward to the test and they know it will be a very tough match.

However, he says it will be a really good opportunity for their players to experience different rugby and environments, and to come up against a very physical team in an environment and conditions that they are not used to.

The Flying Fijians have played Scotland 12 times and have won twice while Scotland has won 10 of the encounters.

The two sides last met last year in Murrayfield where the Scottish came out victorious 57-17.

The match will kick off at 3pm.
