Flash flooding of low lying areas expected
As a trough of low pressure lies slow moving to the South of Viti Levu, the Nadi weather office warns that significant rainfall is expected in the Central and Eastern division over the next 24 hours with flash flooding of low lying areas expected.

The duty forecaster confirms that continuous heavy rain is expected for Suva, Navua, Nausori, the interior parts of Eastern Viti Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu and rain is expected to ease from Wednesday.

According to the rainfall data over the last 24 hours, Savusavu received the most rain with 88 millimeters recorded. Matei received 87 mm while Suva recorded 55mm of rain, 37mm in Navua and Nausori. Monasavu also received 80 mm of rain over the last 24 hours.

And while people living in the Central and Eastern division are hoping for rain to ease, there is no relief for residents in the Western and Northern division which has received only 6mm of rain while Labasa recorded only 2mm of rain.

The Nadi weather office said no significant rainfall is expected in the Northern and Western division at this stage.
